Indonesian airline Lion Air buy 230 Boeing 737 aircraft. The deal valued at 21.7 billion U.S. dollars or about Rp 195 trillion be delivered by the White House Thursday (19.11.2011), shortly after U.S. President Barack Obama landed in Nusa Dua Bali to attend the ASEAN summit series. According to AFP, the arrival of Obama, among others, aims to “market” U.S. products, in order to stimulate the U.S. economy is currently sluggish.

The deal is one of Boeing’s largest commercial aircraft transactions. For information only, before Boeing also did a deal with Emirates worth 26 billion U.S. dollars to purchase 70 Boeing 777 aircraft.

The Lion Air plane that was ordered, consisting of 201 and 29 Boeing 737 MAX 737 ER Next Generation. “President Obama will attend the signing of an agreement between representatives of Lion Air Boeing and 18 November this,” said a White House statement.

The deal, according to the White House, including the option to purchase further 150 aircraft worth 14 billion U.S. dollars. So the total deal was reached 35 billion U.S. dollars.

White House officials claim the deal was to provide 110,000 jobs for Americans at Boeing and its suppliers spread across 43 U.S. states.

On that occasion, the White House also mentioned, another Indonesian airline, Garuda has signed a contract to buy 50 engines General Electric CFM56 production worth 1.3 billion U.S. dollars.
